Default The Many Faces of Orders

If you have ever done the old school b/p team in Tombs (ToPK), you realize what orders are, and how beneficial they can be. But In regular pve, you may ask "Why Bring an orders character?" Well, physical classes do some of the best damage in the game, both in High end PvE as well as PvP. (If you don't believe me, just observe a GvG.) Buffing these physicals just makes things blow up faster.

Orders? What's that?
Orders are various enchantments that effect the entire party and increase their offensive potential. You can look a the wiki article for more information. The main ones that we will concentrate on are [[Order of pain] and [[dark fury]. I posted this in the hero section because, well, orders is boring for the most part. Heroes can both run this effectively, and do it without getting bored. However, human orders can be more choosy with Hex removal or who they cast splinter weapon on. They also have access to PvE skills such as [[Great dwarf Weapon]

What is an orders character?
The two most popular professions are Necromancer and Dervish.
The Necromancer has the obvious advantage of having Soul Reaping, and skills such as [[masochism], as well as the actual orders skills being in their primary attribute lines.
The Dervish uses a unique mix of [[Arcane zeal], the orders, and wind prayer skills to manage their energy and heal themselves and the party. I'm not sure the origin of this, however a good example of this is the Stone Summit Zealot in Slaver's Exile. You can also find it in hero form in this thread.

Common Builds include these:
[build name="D/N Mystic Orders" prof=D/N Mysticism=10+1+1 WindPrayers=11+1 BloodMagic=10][Arcane Zeal][Dark Fury][Order of Pain][Mystic Healing][Vow of Piety][Watchful Intervention][Faithful Intervention][Dwayna's Touch][/build]

This is the basic Dervish build, It shouldn't be tampered with. The strength is widespread party heals., and although these aren't for a lot, they do happen often. Plus, it gives a reason to use a Dervish Hero.

[build name="N/Rt Offensive Orders" prof=N/Rt BloodMagic=10+1 SoulReaping=10+1+1 Channeling=11][empty][Dark Fury][Order of Pain][Masochism][splinter weapon][blood renewal][empty][empty][/build]
The first blank can be filled by [[weapon of fury] or [[well of power], the others can have either a rez, [[well of blood], or [[ancestor's rage]. If it is a human, you can add in [[great dwarf weapon] or [[foul feast]. This adds more damage with AoE through splinter, and can help with adrenaline and energy with [[weapon of fury].

[build name="N/Mo Defensive Orders" prof=n/Mo BloodMagic=10+1 SoulReaping=12+1+1 SmitingPrayers=8][Dark Fury][order of pain][masochism][blood renewal][foul feast][smite hex][remove hex][signet of removal][/build]
This build is very useful for places with lot's of hexes or conditions, such as DoA or the FoW. One of the hex removers can be switched out again for [[Great dwarf weapon] if the necro is human.

Equipment
An enchanting weapon is the only real necessity, things like a blood offhand are a nice bonus too. For runes, you should have a mix of blessed and survivor, as you don't want to sac too much health, or it will take longer to regen. If it it’s a dervish, full windwalkers is suggested.

All of this seems great, but how will it help my party?

Generally, orders don't help casters, aside from healing a little bit and removing hexes/conditions. For physical professions though, it does a load of help. For this reason, orders are best used in teams with 3 or more physicals. More adrenaline and damage always helps.

Warrior More adrenaline and more damage is a no brainer. Skills such as [[for great justice], [[dragon slash], and [[whirlwind attack] help build adrenaline fast, which, in turn, adds damage.

Dervish A scythe is one of the most powerful weapons in GW, and orders just adds more damage. The downside is that many dervish skills convert damage to something other than physical, such as [[aura of holy might]. 25% more damage is better then +13 though. Another thing is that most Dervishes don’t use adrenaline, except for things like [[Save yourselves] or [[flail]. Unless you’re running these, it isn’t terribly useful. The main thing that benefits Dervishes with orders is Mysticism. Many ending enchantments equals lots of energy for killing stuff. Add in [[pious restoration], and you can remove hexes as well.

Assassin Sin’s can wield many weapons efficiently, and orders effect them all. No brainer.

Ranger Skills like [[barrage] hit many enemies at once, and these hits are all effected by the orders. It isn’t apparent (or usefull) until you have an adrenal skill, but Each one of these shots gain adrenaline. This can make spamming SY! on a ranger easy.

Paragon This is where orders shine. High ranged DPS with irremovable party buffs are made even better. More adrenaline makes spamming skills like SY easier, which also gains energy for the Paragon. The increased damage is just the Icing on the Cake.

How can you help your orders?
A good orders should be self sufficient. Well, at least most of the time. Removing nasty hexes like backfire will increase the survivability. If you also have a para with [[mending refrain], this will aid with their regen. Other than that, just normal party heals and protection will suffice.

Additional Notes
  • Order of Pain only works with physical Damage. It is best to use a non elemental weapon.
  • If you have a party of mostly humans, and your Orders is a hero, have a ranged character control it. This will keep them out of most danger.

Thanks for reading, I will try to improve this more over time.

I wouldn't consider the Radiants, as you've got quite alot of energy management.

I would also consider putting a Adept Staff of Enchanting with a 20/20 inscription for Blood Magic, so you get more benefit.

I just go with some +5E sword with a 20% enchants on my hero because I'm a cheapskate.

I prefer [[Aura of the Lich] as the elite than another weapon spell like [[Weapon of Fury] to override Splinter with.

I use an orders nec for for HM vanquishing/missions where there are fewer corpse in replace of an mm with 2 physical hench and myself (sin) its works great.. and blows things up.

I use this build: [well of power][dark fury][order of pain][masochism][protective spirit][aegis][extinguish] 8th skill is optional

The reason i take prots is because i usually run them on the MM (sabway) and the necro has so much e mangement with masochism and soul reaping @10 he can pretty much spam PS. I block extinguish and micro it otherwise the hero will use it to remove as little as one condition.

The elite is a matter of preference, i chose WoP for corpse control in replace of an mm and once you kill something its gg your team is full of energy/health regen + prots. You could use divert hex for hex heavy areas or OoV for armor ignoring ownage.

Dark fury is just too good if you run save yourselves, its up nearly all of the time.

40/20/20 staff sounds nice but i like high hp on my heroes so i go with +5 20% martial weapon + 30hp offhand for this hero

I've been alternating an Orders hero with the Resto Nec in Sab for quite some time. This is the build that I've come to rest on. The other option I use is to just slot [OoV] directly on the Resto Nec.

[build prof=N/Mo name="Alt Orders" blood=12+1+1 soul=9+1 prot=9][Vampiric Spirit][Order of Pain][Dark Fury][Masochism][Signet of Lost Souls][Extinguish][Protective Spirit][Aegis][/build]

The update to [Vampiric Spirit] fills the self heal role much better than [Blood Renewal]

If you don't need the Adrenaline drop [Dark Fury] for something like [Blood Ritual]

If you know you'll be facing high HP foe take [Spoil Victor] instead

**EDIT**

Missed your post somehow, didn't mean to basically suggest the same thing.

Not on par with necros since I have to take an elite for health/e-management but I don't have a necro so meh. Pugs won't take me of course.

Dark fury is great on the n/rt healer specially with a dervish.
Enchantments ends make energy for my dervish and dark fury fueled SY.

You totally did this right before the FoW run! That's why you took so long

If you're running Splinter, you may as well run [Warmonger's Weapon] and micro it.

pugs probably won't take you because orders is ineffective in the crap tanknspank builds they run, not because of your specific skill bar.
